This 5K Run/Walk occurs on the bike path, with runners and walkers lining up at the starting line adjacent to the Xenia Station Hub. We will have the race registration and administration table located at the Xenia Station picnic shelter. Participants can enjoy chocolate candies during and after the run/walk. We will be awarding chocolate baskets to the first two participants to cross the finish line. We will also have a variety of chocolate treats to share after the race/walk is over.
The 5K Got Chocolate? Run/Walk on November 4, 2017 is one of the major fundraising events for the IHN/Schneider House of Hope of Greene County. Your participation fee and donation will go towards assisting displaced families to bounce back from homelessness with our help. Homeless families are similar to other families but, due to some crisis or lack of skills, are in need of resources such as ours.
The IHN/Schneider House of Hope is one of two organizations providing shelter to our homeless families in Greene County. Our shelter families include one or two parents, teenagers, young children, and infants. Being nonprofit, we rely on individuals, churches, businesses, organizations, and fundraisers such as this one to help us continue our work. IHN network volunteers provide evening meals and serve as overnight hosts. Our staff serves daytime meals, provides support, and links families with community services, housing, medical, and employment resources.
