This exciting inaugural long-distance relay race is designed to gather teams of 6, 8, 10 or 12 to share the responsibility in covering 152 miles and help fight human trafficking in which Ohio is ranked 4th in the United States. The I-75 corridor from Dayton to Toledo is used as a major hub in transporting trafficked individuals. Our route heads north from Dayton weaving around this stretch of this trafficking superhighway. Sex trafficking is the world’s fasted growing illegal activity. It is a $13 billion per year business in the U.S. alone of which 75% of victims are sexually enslaved. We use running initiatives starting running groups who run/walk with lights strapped to our heads in the later evening called ‘The Light Brigade.’ We reach out to prostitutes who are often drug addicted handing out personal care hygiene items, water and snacks as we are able to have a conversation and sometimes prayer. We are equipped to transport them to a safe place if they want out. We also run annually in India which is the world’s largest purveyor of human trafficking in the world. A rescue and rehab home in Bangalore, India is planned for 2020-21 called Sparrow’s Hope House.
