With the coming of spring the foliage will be blooming\, eggs will be hatching\, and we’ll be running! \n\n\n\nThe Rocks and Roots Trail at Alum Creek is the only trail built by runners for runners! One of the unique elements of the trail is that every season brings new experiences on the trail. Our Winter Series is famous for it’s bitter cold and snow! The Firefly pits runners against the dark of night. Hoot is HOT\, and Squatch brings the best of the fall color change. Now with the Muddy Duck we encourage you to strap on your gators and get ready for a muddy\, mucky run! \n\n\n\nWhen – Saturday\, April 4. \n\n\n\n\n10K\, 20K\, or 50K  start at 8am. \n\n\n\n6K starts at 8:05ish\n\n\n\n\nWhat – 6K\, 10K\, 20K\, or 50K Trail Race \n\n\n\nWhere – The Rocks and Roots Trail at Alum Creek State Park. Community volunteers serve as CASA’s\, and donate their time and resources to provide invaluable advocacy for children. \n\n\n\n All proceeds raised through this event will go toward supporting the volunteers with items like holiday gifts to give the children\, gas cards to visit them\, relationship building items to take on visits\, etc. Every participant will receive an event t-shirt\, swag bag\, snacks and drinks. \n\n\n\nThe first 100 race finishers will also receive a race medal! \n\n\n\nWe welcome race participants\, event volunteers\, financial donations\, and corporate sponsors. The event takes place at Liberty Park in Powell\, Ohio\, on a soft gravel path and consists of a 5K and 1 mile(ish) walk/run. All race participants receive a race shirt and medal! Instead of receiving a race shirt\, you now have the choice to upgrade to a hoodie for just $15! If you’d like to take advantage of this offer\, simply choose the size Hoodie you’d like during the giveaway selection section of checkout. This is an optional upgrade\, and if you prefer to keep your race shirt\, simply choose the shirt size you’d like. \n\n\n\nThe Finley’s Smile 5K & Smile Mile also serves as our celebration of Finley’s birthday\, and will include some fun children’s activities\, including face painting\, and of course birthday cupcakes! We are looking forward to having you join us for this fun-filled\, familyfriendly event! \n\n\n\nFinley Grace Hollinger was born with Leigh’s Disease\, a mitochondrial disease. In her short life with us\, she taught us three important lessons which can be summarized as “Love\, Play & Smile.” The Finley’s Smile 5K and Smile Mile is the primary fundraiser for the nonprofit organization\, Finley’s Smile. \n\n\n\nThe goal of Finley’s Smile is to provide fun\, authentic and meaningful experiences to children\, while encouraging families to spend time together. In past years\, Finley’s Smile has developed a Games in Schools program\, within several libraries in Worthington Schools. Finley’s Smile has also helped to provide funding for a family play space at the Delaware YMCA\, a community art event with the Boardman Arts Park\, night hike programs at Ohio Wildlife Center\, community gardening programs with Together We Grow Gardens\, programs for children in foster care with Caring for Kids\, obstacles at Gators Bike Park\, a community mountain bike park\, playground space at Harvest Hills Ministries\, as well as many other wonderful organizations over the past 5 years – totaling over $63\,000. \n\n\n\nNew this year! 2.5K The race course for the 5K is 2 laps around the park trail. This year you can sign up for a timed 1 lap\, which is roughly a 2.5K. \n\n\n\nVirtual Race \n\n\n\nIf you are unable to join the in-person event this year\, grab your team wherever you are and run to help us celebrate Finley. **Includes race shirt and medal hand delivered or shipped to registrant.** \n\n\n\nIf you signed up for the virtual race\, send us your time! Lace up\, dash for a cause\, and help make a difference for children and families in our community. 💙🧩 The race/walk will take participants on a scenic route from Columbia Woods to Norton City High School and back. DESCRIPTION:Strides for Safety is a family-friendly\, timed 5K at Winton Woods organized by Jane Holbrook\, a high school junior living with severe food allergies. The event benefits food allergy awareness and advocacy. \n\n\n\nMore than 1 in 13 children and 1 in 10 adults in the U.S. have a food allergy—over 33 million people. A food-allergic reaction sends someone to the emergency room every three minutes.
