For my senior capstone project I have decided to use my passion for running and exercise to help give the kids at The Homeless Families Foundation\, an opportunity to pursue their self goals. Please join us for the first Movin’ It 5K Race/ Walk For Homeless Families Foundation on November 5th\, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Griggs Reservoir. The race will be held in efforts to end the cycle of homelessness in the Columbus area. At Homeless Families Foundation (HFF) in Columbus\, Oh\, we have a goal to teach children the strength to grow independently and believe in themselves. One way HFF encourages children\, is through exercise to build physical and mental strength. The need for tennis shoes\, as well as indoor gym equipment for HFF is in high demand\, especially with winter approaching. There is no official “fee” for the race\, but we would life if each participant could donate one\, or more pairs of gently used/ new tennis shoes for kid and adult sizes. Money donations can be made by clicking the link below\, or on the day of the race. 100% of the donations will go to gym equipment for HFF at the DOWD center located in Columbus. We will be awarding chocolate baskets to the first two participants to cross the finish line. This event is open to the community and supports the Worthington Kilbourne Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams. \nThe family-friendly and fast-paced course is run through the Worthington Hills neighborhood with a start and finish at Worthington Hills Elementary School. The race is organized and supported by the Kilbourne athletes and the Worthington Kilbourne Cross Country Boosters organization. T-shirts are also included with registration\, however the Women’s T-Shirts are junior-cut\, so consider sizing up from what you would normally wear. \nRunners and walkers are welcome on the timed 5K course. Canoefest is a non-profit 501C3 organization striving to bring appreciation to the sport of canoeing and kayaking as well as knowledge of the sport to better facilitate camaraderie among individuals of all ages. \nBrookville Canoefest provides a venue for the public to better appreciate the natural resources of the community and to become future stewards of the environment. \nProceeds from Brookville Canoefest benefit the entire Brookville community through enhancements to the local park system\, beautification efforts and future education programs and events. \nThere is a grant at the Franklin County Community Foundation that gives every year to the improvement and/or maintenance of the town park. \nWe have recently donated a $10\,000.00 scoreboard for the park which benefits the football teams that play there. It will be held on August 6\, 2017 on Otterbein University’s Cross Country Course! Registration will (tentatively) begin at 7AM\, and the race will start at 8:30AM. Friendly\, vaccinated dogs are welcome! \nThe purpose of this race is to bring awareness to what RESCUEDohio does for dogs in need. In addition to taking in adult dogs\, RESCUEDohio takes in many moms and puppies to help limit exposure to shelter sicknesses. All puppies\, and dogs are given shots and spayed/neutered. All medical needs are taken care of by RESCUEDohio. On July 22\, 2017\, come experience an event that will get you away from the hustle and bustle of the city\, and afford you the opportunity to enjoy the country. Spend a beautiful summer day out in the country\, and explore what it has to offer! \nThe event will start and end on the Hord Family farm (Centerburg\, Ohio area)\, and along the way you will experience motley terrain\, including; back roads\, farmland\, a horse ranch\, wooded trails and a farm that provides one of the best landscape views in Central Ohio. \nPricing will increase on March 4 at midnight (Early Bird Pricing ends 3/3/17 @ 11:59 PM) \nA Country Mile\, the motley terrain race (MTR)\, is a venture to encourage the Ohio and surrounding running communities to ground athletes’ running adventures in their local communities\, and encourage the supporting of local businesses. A Country Mile will be hosted north of Columbus\, in Centerburg\, Ohio. The race will take place on 3 back roads (Dirt\, Gravel\, Pavement)\, through farmland and single track trails. The race will be hopeful in encouraging participants to branch out\, and try different types of terrain when training. \n“Complete or Compete. Your Goals\, Your Success” \nDistances/Course: \n\nParticipants will be able to choose from 2 distances (Roughly: 10K\, 3-5K Trail)\nThe event will consist of a loop\, approximately 10K in distance.
