DESCRIPTION:We are excited to be present our 5th Annual West Akron 5K Run/Walk in collaboration with The Gus Johnson Community Foundation. We aim to bring a wellness initiative to the community while raising funds to create a spirit of philanthropy for the students at John R. Buchtel High School. To date\, our collaboration has been able to donate $23\,000 to the Buchtel Stadium fund. With support and sponsorship from our race committee\, the City of Akron\, The Gus Johnson Community Foundation and the United Women of Wholeness\, we are looking forward to working diligently to continue to raise funds for the Buchtel Cluster of schools. \n \nBuchtel High School opened in 1931 and is named after Akron industrialist and philanthropist John R. Buchtel. Mr. Buchtel helped to organize and finance a number of early Akron firms\, including the Goodrich Corporation. Buchtel High School has been and continues to be a recognized leader in multiple sports categories. The Griffs over the years have achieved championship caliber success in football\, cross country\, swimming\, and track. DESCRIPTION:Forever Safe Farm hosts its 5th Annual Camel Crawl 5k Mud Run Obstacle Course at 10:00 AM on July 14th on our rolling pastures at 3155 McCracken Road\, Salem\, OH 44460. Registration opens at 8:30 and Parking is at Kent State Salem Campus. A free shuttle will bring you to and from the race. \nThis 5k race is run over the hills and streams of Forever Safe Farm. This is a charity race to raise funds for the care of the over 100 animals that call Forever Safe Farm forever home. \nAt almost 20 obstacles you will enjoy the challenge. Individual obstacles have a skill level from easy to moderate. The signature obstacle “The Camel Crawl” is two humps that you have to climb up and over\, in the mud…and UNDERGROUND!!! \nExperience Hog Heaven\, the aptly named obstacle\, that will have you jumping (without success)\, wallowing\, and dragging your way out of the mud bog. The Tire Tunnel will have you on your knees crawling through truck and tractor tires suspended on chains…hope you are agile for this one!!! \nPRIZES: Every runner gets a medal but the best time gets the Grand Prize Trophy!! \nSPECTATORS: Not only is this race a blast for the runners but it is really fun to watch or come to support YOUR FAVORITE RUNNER. DESCRIPTION:  \nRun With The Pack is a 5K run/walk with timing chip or 1 mile fun run to benefit Pets Without Parents\, a no-kill\, non-profit\, all breed\, dog and cat rescue in Columbus\, Ohio. \nSince our first run in 2007\, Run With The Pack has served as the biggest fundraiser of the year for Pets Without Parents Animal Shelter. Pets Without Parents is an all-breed\, no-kill\, non-profit shelter for dogs and cats located in the Clintonville area of Columbus\, Ohio. Adoptions fees only cover ~31% of the total cost of care for our pets. We rely on fundraisers like these to make our rescue efforts possible! \nCome and see what everyone has been barking about! There will be vendors\, food\, music\, prizes and other give-a-ways\, adoptable dogs from Pets Without Parents\, and lots of lots of fun for a very special cause! DESCRIPTION:  \n \n\nAre You Ready for the 2018 Redbud Trail Challenge?\nJoin us for what we think is the “Most Rugged and Beautiful Trail Race in Ohio”. The Redbud Trail Challenge is a grueling Trail Hike/Run to benefit Ohio Wilderness Boys Camp (OWBC). Bring the whole family to participate and choose between a 5K\, 10K\, or 20K trail course. It will be run on OWBC’s rugged 600 acre forested property located in the hills of Southeast Ohio. \nThe OWBC RedBud Trail Challenge. . .\nThe Redbud Trail Challenge will do just that: Challenge your will\, mind\, and body just to finish this course. But it will be worth every bit of energy and will-power you spend. The trail will go through 2 primitive campsites (the 5K will go through 1 campsite) which the boys built and where they reside. A few more unique features are crossing the 68′ span “Nehemiah” suspension bridge (which the boys built)\, the beautiful springtime forest lush with Redbud and Dogwood blossoms\, and huge boulders along the trail. \nThere will be 3 refreshment/first aid stations (2 on the 5K course) spread out over the course of the trail. The 10K trail is strenuous and has over 1\,700′ of elevation gain and is approximately 40% technical single track and 60% old logging trails. The 20K trail will be twice around the 10K course and is not for the faint of heart. The 5K is perfect for the whole family because it is less rugged for those who want the fun of hiking in the woods\, but not the difficulty and length of the 10K or 20K. All participants who register on or before April 26\, 2018 will receive a race t-shirt and a gift from OWBC. You also can wait to register until Race Day from 7:15 – 8:30 am (Race Day registration costs $5 more). For my senior capstone project I have decided to use my passion for running and exercise to help give the kids at The Homeless Families Foundation\, an opportunity to pursue their self goals. Please join us for the first Movin’ It 5K Race/ Walk For Homeless Families Foundation on November 5th\, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Griggs Reservoir. The race will be held in efforts to end the cycle of homelessness in the Columbus area. At Homeless Families Foundation (HFF) in Columbus\, Oh\, we have a goal to teach children the strength to grow independently and believe in themselves. One way HFF encourages children\, is through exercise to build physical and mental strength. The need for tennis shoes\, as well as indoor gym equipment for HFF is in high demand\, especially with winter approaching. There is no official “fee” for the race\, but we would life if each participant could donate one\, or more pairs of gently used/ new tennis shoes for kid and adult sizes. DESCRIPTION:[countdown year=”2017″ month=”11″ day=”4″ hour=”8″ minute=”0″] \n \nPickawaySTRONG Pump & Run 5K Event Date: November 4\, 2017 Location: 440 Nicholas Drive\, Circleville\, OH 43113 \nPump & Run 5K Details:\nPacket Pickup November 3rd 8:00am-9:00pm and November 4th at 6:30am\nWeigh-ins begin at 7:00am in the Family Center\nPump event also begins at 7:00am\nRace begins at 9:00am on the trail behind the YMCA \nRules:\nA runner’s time will be based on how many times he/she can bench press their weight by formula. There will be 10 lifting divisions. \n\n\n\nAge \nMen \nWomen\n\n\n(minimum age 16\,\nwith parental consent)\n% of body weight\n% of body weight\n\n\n 39 and under\n 100%\n70%\n\n\n 40-49\n 90%\n60%\n\n\n 50-59\n 80%\n50%\n\n\n 60-69\n 70%\n40%\n\n\n 70 and over\n 60%\n40%\n\n\n *minimum lift 45 pounds\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nThis will allow a runner to reduce their run time by 15 minutes based on 30 reps (maximum allowed). If they bench press their weight 10 times – 5 minutes will be taken off the finish running time. If the first attempt is unsuccessful\, it will be noted as a “0”\, and no time will be deducted from the 5K. Rep-bar must touch athlete’s chest and be fully extended or a no count will be given. Bench press will be judged by the U.S. Marines. \nAthletes must wear running shoes at weigh-in. \nSpecial awards for the top 3 men and women finishers. All finishers will receive medals.
