One where kids could come and try out running events if they were new to it\, or challenge themselves to run further or faster than they had before. Maybe even get ready for their cross country season in the fall! \n\n\n\nSo what is this?\n\n\n\nA three event race series to take place in June\, July\, and August! \n\n\n\nRACE DATESJUNE 11th JULY 16thAUGUST 13thThe races will start promptly at 6:00pm in the evening\, so parents and kiddos can get to the races on time!  \n\n\n\nSounds great! Where are the races?\n\n\n\nWe have a loop course at Glacier Ridge Metro Park. The races will start at the Dog Park area of the park (Google Maps pin here)Course Map (1 and 2 mile options)available here Course Map (1/2 mile option) available here \n\n\n\nThat’s fun! Can they switch distances? \n\n\n\nSure thing! We understand that young athletes have their ups and downs just like adult athletes. It’s best to talk with your athlete multiple times before race day to see what distance they’d like to run. Try to ask them if they’d like to beat their previous best mile time\, or try a new distance. It’s always good to remind athletes that it’s ok to be nervous about a race\, but just remind them that they’ll learn something from each race experience no matter how it goes. \n\n\n\nAthletes should try to make their decision before the race if possible\, but if they need to switch after doing one loop they need to immediately tell the Race Penguin timing staff so we can ensure correct results.If they are switching from the 1/2-mile race to another distance\, DO NOT START WITH THE OTHER 1/2 MILE RACERS. Please see the Race Penguin staff before the start of the race you’re planning on racing so they can switch you. \n\n\n\nYou will select your distance FOR ALL THREE EVENTS during registration. SUMMARY:Whiskey City Twilight Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Originally named the Twilight Dash for Cash this\, event was founded by longtime QCW member Rick Hoeting in 2016. Over the next five years Rick turned the event into one of the biggest races in the tri-state area culminating with one of the most successful events in the U.S. during the first year of Covid in 2020. In 2021 Mark Illingworth took over the Event Director duties while the event has continued to thrive and evolve. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\n\nThis race is in the planning phase. Details will follow closer to the race date. \n\n\n\nLocation & Parking\n\n\n\nDirections: Located in downtown Lawrenceburg\, Indiana. Best way into town is Hollywood Blvd. then left on Arch\, left on William\, right on High.      \n\n\n\nPark in lot at Short and High Street. Garage parking is also available to participants and spectators at 200 New Street and can be accessed from US 50 via Walnut Street\, left on Tate Street\, right on Elm Street and right on New Street. GPS Lawrenceburg River Front Parking Garage. \n\n\n\nREGISTRATION: Registration is handled through BikeReg. SUMMARY:Kevin Peck Memorial 5K

The teens wanted to start a 5k to raise awareness about mental health. They realized that so many people struggle in their community\, so they decided to do something about it. This 5k is a reminder how important every person is in the world. While also highlighting the importance of togetherness as a city. The money raised through this event will support the organization Erika’s Lighthouse which the teens chose. Erika’s lighthouse provides mental health services to Wayne County and across the country. The race with take place in the city of Orrville starting at the Boys and Girls club at 9:00am on August 1st. If you do not like to run don’t worry\, there will be a 1 mile walk option as well!!! Choose from the Leafy Loop 5K\, the Tree Line Trek 10K\, or the Sapling Dash for kids. Whether you’re a pro runner or it’s your first race\, we’d love to see you at the finish line! \n\n\n\nThe Sapling Dash Kids Run is a out and back course\, which is about .25 miles. \n\n\n\nHelp us give back! A portion of the proceeds go to Blessings in a Backpack. 100% of the proceeds from the donation page (click the donate button above) go to Blessings in a Backpack. \n\n\n\nThe Blessings in a Backpack program in Marysville\, Ohio\, provides non-perishable food every week throughout the school year for children who might benefit from supplemental nutrition. We currently serve five elementary schools — Edgewood\, Mill Valley\, Navin\, Northwood\, and Raymond — as well as Creekview Intermediate School. Every ‘blessing’ bag we send home for the weekend includes\, at minimum\, two breakfast items\, two entree/protein items\, and two healthy snacks. We also send extra items home for long weekends and extended breaks to help keep bellies full until kids return to school. We are 100% community-funded\, meaning we couldn’t do what we do without the support of individuals\, groups\, churches\, businesses\, and organizations committed to ending childhood hunger and food insecurity alongside us. Owls have been considered omens of good luck\, bad fortune\, impendingdoom\, wisdom\, foolishness\, evil and witchcraft\, and even predictors of weather. Bizarre examples of owl mythology abound around the globe.  \n\n\n\nBehold the HOOT! While summer on the trails offers some of the best trail conditions\, there is no shortage of challenge to be had! All participants get a soft t-shirt\, swag bag\, and medal! \n\n\n\nFriends of the Shelter is an all-volunteer\, 501c3 non-profit organization established to fund the medical care of the sick and injured dogs at the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center. \n\n\n\nThe Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center is funded by the county budget and from funds generated through fees\, such as dog licenses. However\, these sources of funding are not sufficient to provide medical care for the Shelter dogs that need more than basic services. \n\n\n\nThe Friends of the Shelter was formed in 2003 to save these sick or injured—but otherwise adoptable—dogs so they can be adopted into loving\, forever families. \n\n\n\nFriends of the Shelter is an all-volunteer group of local individuals who donate their time to the day-to-day operations of the organization. Additionally\, the volunteers plan and coordinate fundraising events\, marketing and public relations projects and provide accounting and legal guidance. Will you brave the elements to track him down??​Each year just as the season turns\, hundreds of Squatch enthusiasts descend upon the woods of Alum Creek in search of the elusive Autumn Squatch.  The first recorded sighting was in the fall of 2012\, with multiple sightings over the years. \n\n\n\n​The Autumn Squatch is most commonly seen poking around the Rocks and Roots trail on late autumn nights as he passes through on his way south for the winter. To celebrate the coming of the Squatch we invite you to join us in hopes of catching a glimpse!​ \n\n\n\nWhen – Sunday\, November 1st.
