You also have the option to run or walk with your four-legged friends virtually between 9/24-9/27 if you cannot attend the event in person. \n\n\n\nWe will have 100 great auction and raffle items online for you to bid on and feature some at the event on the 26th! All participants get a soft t-shirt\, swag bag\, and medal! \n\n\n\nFriends of the Shelter is an all-volunteer\, 501c3 non-profit organization established to fund the medical care of the sick and injured dogs at the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center. \n\n\n\nThe Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center is funded by the county budget and from funds generated through fees\, such as dog licenses. However\, these sources of funding are not sufficient to provide medical care for the Shelter dogs that need more than basic services. \n\n\n\nThe Friends of the Shelter was formed in 2003 to save these sick or injured—but otherwise adoptable—dogs so they can be adopted into loving\, forever families. \n\n\n\nFriends of the Shelter is an all-volunteer group of local individuals who donate their time to the day-to-day operations of the organization. Additionally\, the volunteers plan and coordinate fundraising events\, marketing and public relations projects and provide accounting and legal guidance. In 2023\, James ran 100 miles straight over 30 hours\, pushing his body and mind to the limit to raise $20\,000 for our organization. His dedication and belief in the power of recovery continue to inspire others to take that next step—whether it’s one mile or one hundred. \n\n\n\nIn 2024\, we launched this race as a way to honor James’ efforts and create a lasting tradition that brings the community together in support of recovery. Will you brave the elements to track him down??​Each year just as the season turns\, hundreds of Squatch enthusiasts descend upon the woods of Alum Creek in search of the elusive Autumn Squatch.  The first recorded sighting was in the fall of 2012\, with multiple sightings over the years. \n\n\n\n​The Autumn Squatch is most commonly seen poking around the Rocks and Roots trail on late autumn nights as he passes through on his way south for the winter. To celebrate the coming of the Squatch we invite you to join us in hopes of catching a glimpse!​ \n\n\n\nWhen – Sunday\, November 1st. All races start at 8am.  \n\n\n\nWhat –  10K\, 20K\, or 50K Trail Race \n\n\n\nWhere – The Rocks and Roots Trail at Alum Creek State Park.
