SUMMARY:4 x 1 mile x 2 hours Team Challenge
DESCRIPTION:We love virtual events. But\, there’s so much we miss about racing… \nThe course… \nThe timing… \nThe competition… \nThe team… \nHere’s our take on a race challenge that will allow you and your team to compete for Citywide bragging rights. \nTHE RACE\nRace in person on a set course\, get true timed results\, all while meeting social distancing guidelines. \nThe race is $100.00 per team (4 runners @ $25/each). You must register all 4 people at the same time. Everyone must be in the same race (mens/women/coed)\, and you must put everyone on the same team. \nWhen you register for the race you will select a time slot. During that time slot your team will be the only 4 people on race site. Your team will rotate through a 1 mile loop course\, each person takes a turn\, then another\, then another\, then another.  Completing as many laps as they can during the 2 hour window.  You will run with a track baton that contains an timing chip.  Your laps will be counted electronically\, and results will be updated as each team finishes.  We will even capture finisher photos for each member of each team!! \nRace will be scored as men’s teams\, women’s teams\, and co-ed teams (2 men\, 2 women). We’ll also have masters category (all members age 40+) of each division.  Let’s have some fun with this and see who’s the fastest in Columbus. \nTIME SLOTS\nMay 22nd – 31st \nEach Day (weekends and weekdays) the following time slots will be available \n6:00-8:00am \n9:00-11:00am \n12:00-2:00pm \n3:00-5:00pm \n6:00-8:00pm \n5 slots per day for 10 days. But\, bring water bottles (or cups\, or whatever vessel of your choosing)\, and your own snacks. \nCourse will be on public sidewalk\, open to walkers\, dogs\, other runners\, whoever. Let’s celebrate this Monday off work with running 26.2 miles.  While you may or may not be running the Boston Virtual Marathon\, we will be holding an in person timed option right here in Columbus. Come make your virtual race feel more real\, and get an official chip time. Or come out and make this Marathon Monday your goal! \nAll runners will receive a bib and chip timed results on a USATF certified course – starting down on Front Street – near Scioto Audubon Park\, and runs up the trail to Riverside Rd.  Course is 6.55miles\, out and back for a half\, or out and back twice for a full marathon. \nWe won’t have aid along the route. DESCRIPTION:– Register\n\n\n\n – Donate\n\n\n\n – Results\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Alicia Jarvis Butterfly Wagon 5K & Kids Fun Run is being held to honor our daughter\, sister\, niece\, cousin\, friend and inspiration\, Alicia.  Alicia was a beautiful\, smart\, and loving 17 year old junior student at Hamilton Township High School who was a member of the band. After she experienced a fall and was not improving\, that is when we heard the unthinkable words of a brain tumor on her brain stem that was inoperable.  While we were all trying to process the news\, Ali remained positive and upbeat even giving her doctors nicknames and sharing lots of smiles.  Ali was determined to pursue a degree in electrical engineering from Alabama University\, even after being told of her diagnosis.  Ali began treatment in March of 2014 and the brain tumor did not respond to the treatment and instead grew.  After many heartbreaking weeks as a patient at Nationwide Children’s Hospital we decided to bring Ali home for her final days.  During our time at Children’s we experienced the outpouring of support and encouragement from everyone we encountered.  Watching families\, who were also dealing with their own crisis and seeing that somedays the smallest things made you smile.  This year to honor our loved and extremely missed\, Alicia we wanted to purchase a Butterfly Wagon in her memory.  These wagons are used by the families at Nationwide Children’s Hospital to provide help transporting the children and their items during their time at the hospital. The 5k is relatively flat and can be enjoyed by runners and walkers of all skill levels. FAMILY FRIENDLY! The 10k is a true challenge ending in a stair climb that has become infamous among the Columbus trail running community. In keeping with FLIP’s goal to encourage a cancer-preventative lifestyle\, FLIP encourages every level of fitness to come out and enjoy the scenery! Running strollers are allowed on the 5k course but not the 10k. FLIP recognizes that cancer prevention requires a dynamic shift in our thinking and is empowering individuals to engage in preventing cancer using a holistic approach: Fight- Fighting together to challenge cancer risks outside of our individual control.
