The event takes place at Liberty Park in Powell\, Ohio\, on a soft gravel path and consists of a 5K and 1 mile(ish) walk/run. All race participants receive a race shirt and medal! Instead of receiving a race shirt\, you now have the choice to upgrade to a hoodie for just $15! If you’d like to take advantage of this offer\, simply choose the size Hoodie you’d like during the giveaway selection section of checkout. This is an optional upgrade\, and if you prefer to keep your race shirt\, simply choose the shirt size you’d like. \n\n\n\nThe Finley’s Smile 5K & Smile Mile also serves as our celebration of Finley’s birthday\, and will include some fun children’s activities\, including face painting\, and of course birthday cupcakes! We are looking forward to having you join us for this fun-filled\, familyfriendly event! \n\n\n\nFinley Grace Hollinger was born with Leigh’s Disease\, a mitochondrial disease. In her short life with us\, she taught us three important lessons which can be summarized as “Love\, Play & Smile.” The Finley’s Smile 5K and Smile Mile is the primary fundraiser for the nonprofit organization\, Finley’s Smile. \n\n\n\nThe goal of Finley’s Smile is to provide fun\, authentic and meaningful experiences to children\, while encouraging families to spend time together. In past years\, Finley’s Smile has developed a Games in Schools program\, within several libraries in Worthington Schools. Finley’s Smile has also helped to provide funding for a family play space at the Delaware YMCA\, a community art event with the Boardman Arts Park\, night hike programs at Ohio Wildlife Center\, community gardening programs with Together We Grow Gardens\, programs for children in foster care with Caring for Kids\, obstacles at Gators Bike Park\, a community mountain bike park\, playground space at Harvest Hills Ministries\, as well as many other wonderful organizations over the past 5 years – totaling over $63\,000. \n\n\n\nNew this year! 2.5K The race course for the 5K is 2 laps around the park trail. This year you can sign up for a timed 1 lap\, which is roughly a 2.5K. \n\n\n\nVirtual Race \n\n\n\nIf you are unable to join the in-person event this year\, grab your team wherever you are and run to help us celebrate Finley. **Includes race shirt and medal hand delivered or shipped to registrant.** \n\n\n\nIf you signed up for the virtual race\, send us your time! DESCRIPTION:– Register\n\n\n\n– STS Store\n\n\n\n – Donate\n\n\n\n – Fundraising\n\n\n\n – Results\n\n\n\n – Facebook\n\n\n\n – Instagram\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe annual 5K run/1 mile walk benefits Stop the Suffering\, a 501 (c)(3) based in Columbus\, Ohio\, that saves animals from shelters and other situations in which their lives might be at risk. STS adopts about 500 dogs a year and transports around 4\,000 cats and dogs from rural shelters and puppy mills to rescue organizations. STS also sponsors the vet care\, boarding expenses and other costs when needed to help save an animal’s life. Additionally\, STS has a program that helps with many local municipalities’ spay and neuter programs in order to help control the pet population. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThis is a rain or shine event. You also have the option to run or walk with your four-legged friends virtually between 9/24-9/27 if you cannot attend the event in person. \n\n\n\nWe will have 100 great auction and raffle items online for you to bid on and feature some at the event on the 26th! All participants get a soft t-shirt\, swag bag\, and medal! \n\n\n\nFriends of the Shelter is an all-volunteer\, 501c3 non-profit organization established to fund the medical care of the sick and injured dogs at the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center. \n\n\n\nThe Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center is funded by the county budget and from funds generated through fees\, such as dog licenses. However\, these sources of funding are not sufficient to provide medical care for the Shelter dogs that need more than basic services. \n\n\n\nThe Friends of the Shelter was formed in 2003 to save these sick or injured—but otherwise adoptable—dogs so they can be adopted into loving\, forever families. \n\n\n\nFriends of the Shelter is an all-volunteer group of local individuals who donate their time to the day-to-day operations of the organization. Additionally\, the volunteers plan and coordinate fundraising events\, marketing and public relations projects and provide accounting and legal guidance.
