One where kids could come and try out running events if they were new to it\, or challenge themselves to run further or faster than they had before. Maybe even get ready for their cross country season in the fall! \n\n\n\nSo what is this?\n\n\n\nA three event race series to take place in June\, July\, and August! \n\n\n\nRACE DATESJUNE 11th JULY 16thAUGUST 13thThe races will start promptly at 6:00pm in the evening\, so parents and kiddos can get to the races on time!  \n\n\n\nSounds great! Where are the races?\n\n\n\nWe have a loop course at Glacier Ridge Metro Park. The races will start at the Dog Park area of the park (Google Maps pin here)Course Map (1 and 2 mile options)available here Course Map (1/2 mile option) available here \n\n\n\nThat’s fun! Where/when will that be?\n\n\n\nPacket pick-up will be at the Fleet Feet Lewis Center location (google maps address here) \n\n\n\nThe event series packet pick-up will be at Fleet Feet Lewis Center.PPU Dates/Times are as follows:Wednesday June 11th 11am-5:15pm \n\n\n\nWednesday July 9th 11am – 5:15pm \n\n\n\nWednesday August 13th 11am – 4:30pm \n\n\n\nWill there be on-site Race Day registration and/or Packet Pick-Up?\n\n\n\nWe will have race day registration\, and packet pick-up!If you are registering on-site on race day\, be sure to bring your phone and/or credit card as our friends at Race Penguin will have a QR code to sign up using your phone.Volunteers may be able to assist you by walking you through on your phone\, but may not be able to help sign you up. \n\n\n\nHow do I choose the distance my athlete will race? Can they switch distances? \n\n\n\nSure thing! We understand that young athletes have their ups and downs just like adult athletes. It’s best to talk with your athlete multiple times before race day to see what distance they’d like to run. Try to ask them if they’d like to beat their previous best mile time\, or try a new distance. It’s always good to remind athletes that it’s ok to be nervous about a race\, but just remind them that they’ll learn something from each race experience no matter how it goes. \n\n\n\nAthletes should try to make their decision before the race if possible\, but if they need to switch after doing one loop they need to immediately tell the Race Penguin timing staff so we can ensure correct results.If they are switching from the 1/2-mile race to another distance\, DO NOT START WITH THE OTHER 1/2 MILE RACERS. Please see the Race Penguin staff before the start of the race you’re planning on racing so they can switch you. \n\n\n\nYou will select your distance FOR ALL THREE EVENTS during registration. DESCRIPTION:HALF MARATHON:The Parkersburg News and Sentinel Half Marathon begins at 8:00 a.m. (Wheelchair division 7:50 a.m.) in downtown Parkersburg and is the RRCA WV State Championship. The rolling course will take you out of the city and into the scenic surroundings of West Virginia before looping back into the commercial area. You will finish the race to the cheers of thousands of spectators lined up on Market Street prior to the Parkersburg Homecoming Festival Parade. \n\n\n\nAll participants in the Half Marathon will get a tech shirt\, pre-race pasta dinner\, finishers medal\, & post-race pizza luncheon. \n\n\n\nTWO MILE RACE:Starting line is at Third and Juliana streets at the Towne Square Parking Garage and the finish line is at Sixth and Market streets. Bizarre examples of owl mythology abound around the globe.  \n\n\n\nBehold the HOOT! While summer on the trails offers some of the best trail conditions\, there is no shortage of challenge to be had! You also have the option to run or walk with your four-legged friends virtually between 9/24-9/27 if you cannot attend the event in person. \n\n\n\nWe will have 100 great auction and raffle items online for you to bid on and feature some at the event on the 26th! All participants get a soft t-shirt\, swag bag\, and medal! \n\n\n\nFriends of the Shelter is an all-volunteer\, 501c3 non-profit organization established to fund the medical care of the sick and injured dogs at the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center. \n\n\n\nThe Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center is funded by the county budget and from funds generated through fees\, such as dog licenses. However\, these sources of funding are not sufficient to provide medical care for the Shelter dogs that need more than basic services. \n\n\n\nThe Friends of the Shelter was formed in 2003 to save these sick or injured—but otherwise adoptable—dogs so they can be adopted into loving\, forever families. \n\n\n\nFriends of the Shelter is an all-volunteer group of local individuals who donate their time to the day-to-day operations of the organization. Additionally\, the volunteers plan and coordinate fundraising events\, marketing and public relations projects and provide accounting and legal guidance. Will you brave the elements to track him down??​Each year just as the season turns\, hundreds of Squatch enthusiasts descend upon the woods of Alum Creek in search of the elusive Autumn Squatch.  The first recorded sighting was in the fall of 2012\, with multiple sightings over the years. \n\n\n\n​The Autumn Squatch is most commonly seen poking around the Rocks and Roots trail on late autumn nights as he passes through on his way south for the winter. To celebrate the coming of the Squatch we invite you to join us in hopes of catching a glimpse!​ \n\n\n\nWhen – Sunday\, November 1st. All races start at 8am.  \n\n\n\nWhat –  10K\, 20K\, or 50K Trail Race \n\n\n\nWhere – The Rocks and Roots Trail at Alum Creek State Park. The start of the race is located just off of Hollenback Rd and just south of the dog park(3993 Hollenback Rd Lewis Center\, OH 43035). \n\n\n\nCost – Our races typically sell out 2-6 weeks prior to race day.
