Since our inception eight years ago\, the Gem of the Highlands 5K has donated more than $90\,000 in race proceeds. The new basketball courts at Waterworks Park and the dog park at Upper Millcrest Park have received the majority of our funding\, but smaller donations have been made to cover mulch\, grass seed and other general needs at five Norwood parks in beautification efforts. As a completely volunteer-led organization\, we will continue to focus our proceeds and donations on improving Norwood parks again this year. It is a chip-timed event held on Thanksgiving Day\, Nov. 27th\, in beautiful Groveport Park where runners will run 3 laps around a 1 mile course. Runners will receive a “I’m just here for the pie!” t-shirt and a whole pie of their choice – apple or pumpkin! Yummmm…. There will also be a live DJ on site this year! Come for the exercise! Come for the music and fun!
