Join us as we welcome and celebrate the most efficient light in the world… the firefly!  (nearly 100% of the energy in the chemical reaction within the fireflies light organ is emitted light… it’s true) \n\n\n\nWhether you’re looking to set a distance PR or just looking to run in the dark with some friends\, “The Firefly Overnight Endurance Challenge and Sunset & Sunrise 10k” will offer you that opportunity with 12-hours of fully supported\, overnight-racing throughout the ONLY trail in central Ohio built BY runners\, FOR runners!  Wait\, what?!?!  Overnight!?!?!  Yes!!​ \n\n\n\nThe race will start at 8pm\, and it will be dark no matter which race you choose!  So\, even though the fireflies will help light your way\, headlamps and/or flashlights are mandatory. Reflective gear\, glow-sticks\, and body-paint are encouraged. \n\n\n\nBring your family and friends\, as the course will pass through the overnight group-camping area. Don’t forget the kids!  They’ll have a race too!  The kids mile will start promptly 30-minutes prior to the “big kids” race. \n\n\n\nThe Firefly Overnight Endurance Challenge\, starts at 8:00pm\, on the Rocks and Roots trail at Alum Creek. The clock stops at 8am for the overnight challenge. Only completed laps count towards mileage. \n\n\n\nFor the safety of all our participants\, minors 14-18 are permitted to run the overnight challenge with an adult on site for duration of race.  Children under 14 are not permitted to participate. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWhat –  Overnight Endurance Challenge and Sunset & Sunrise 10k and Kids Mile \n\n\n\n\nOvernight Endurance Challenge\n\nThe Firefly Overnight Endurance Challenge\, starts at 8:00pm on Saturday night. The clock stops at 8am on Sunday morning for the overnight challenge. Only completed laps during the 12 hour period count towards official mileage. If the clock runs out mid lap we highly encourage completing the extra credit lap for bragging rights only as sadly those miles will not count.\n\n\n\nTHIS IS AN OVERNIGHT RACE. You must be comfortable running in the dark on a single-track trail. While the trail is very well marked it will be dark and wrong turns can be made. This is Knox County Suicide Coalition is holding its sixteenth annual 5k/10k walk and run on September 12th at Ariel Foundation Park\, starting at 5:00 P.M. Suicide affects all walks of life\, we want to send out a clear message that there is hope and support available. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe race benefits the Knox County Suicide Prevention Coalition\, a non-profit\, charitable organization that is dedicated to reducing the rate of suicide in Knox County and connecting those at risk with resources and support. The volunteer-based organization offers grief support\, information on available resources\, and referrals to community services. We will also be lighting the tower and bridge at approximately 7:15 P.M. Families and friends are encouraged to bring a picture of their loved one to share.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe walk and run is to bring attention to awareness and prevention of suicide. We are asking you to join us in making a difference in our community. We invite walkers\, runners\, joggers\, dogs\, children’s activities\, and strollers of all ages to come out and participate. Even if you can’t join in the race\, come support a great cause and start the conversation. DESCRIPTION:– Register\n\n\n\n – Results\n\n\n\n – Facebook\n\n\n\n – Instagram\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe annual 10K Run\, 5K Run/Walk\, and 1-Mile Fun Run/Health Walk draws more runners each and every year is set to run through The Village of Sugarcreek on Saturday\, October 3\, 2026.  The race takes place in front of the Sugarcreek Fire Department\, 154 Broadway Street Sugarcreek\, OH 44681. \n\n\n\nOhio Swiss Festival:The race is part of the Ohio Swiss Festival held the fourth weekend after Labor Day.  This is a magical time in Sugarcreek located just 8 miles from Interstate 77 in Tuscarawas County. It is a time when Swiss is queen and cheese is for all during an event known as the Ohio Swiss Festival. Will you brave the elements to track him down??​Each year just as the season turns\, hundreds of Squatch enthusiasts descend upon the woods of Alum Creek in search of the elusive Autumn Squatch.  The first recorded sighting was in the fall of 2012\, with multiple sightings over the years. \n\n\n\n​The Autumn Squatch is most commonly seen poking around the Rocks and Roots trail on late autumn nights as he passes through on his way south for the winter. To celebrate the coming of the Squatch we invite you to join us in hopes of catching a glimpse!​ \n\n\n\nWhen – Sunday\, November 1st. All races start at 8am.  \n\n\n\nWhat –  10K\, 20K\, or 50K Trail Race \n\n\n\nWhere – The Rocks and Roots Trail at Alum Creek State Park. The start of the race is located just off of Hollenback Rd and just south of the dog park(3993 Hollenback Rd Lewis Center\, OH 43035). \n\n\n\nCost – Our races typically sell out 2-6 weeks prior to race day. All 50K participants must begin their 4th lap before 1:00pm. DESCRIPTION:– Register\n\n\n\n – Donate\n\n\n\n – Results\n\n\n\n – Facebook\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHelping Heroes brought back a Wheeling Favorite. It is the same race\, with a similar mission: Supporting Local Veterans. This is a point-to-point road 10k with rolling hills.The Race starts in front of Bridge Street Middle. It turns left at the light and continues on National Road\, through Elm Grove\, Dimmydale\, Woodsdale\, all the way up to the Mount Wood Overlook. Then downhill on Stone Blvd into Chapline Street. Finishing with a turn onto 16th street in front of Helping Heroes new headquarters. \n\n\n\n• Packet pickup and day of registration will occur at Bridge Street Middle School Parking Lot starting at 7:30 am• Suggested parking is downtown (street parking around 14th Street\, Northern Community College lots or Wesbanco Arena Parking Garage.• Buses will take participants from downtown to the start line at Bridge Street Middle School. Buses will leave from 44 16th Street at approx. at 7:30\, 7:45\, 8:00 and 8:15.• You can park at Bridge Street Middle. But no buses will run to Bridge Street after the event.• The Award Ceremony starts at 10:30 for Runners and 11:30 for Walkers.
