DESCRIPTION:– Register\n\n\n\n – Donate\n\n\n\n – Results\n\n\n\n – Facebook\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSeptember 7-13\, 2025 is National Suicide Prevention Week\, which is the opportunity to shine a special encouraging light & awareness on the topic that affects all walks of life. It sends out a clear message that there is hope and support is available. Suicide for middle-aged people\, especially men\, have the highest rate of suicide compared to other groups. 80% of all deaths by suicide in the U.S. are among men and women age 45-54. Men ages 85 and older have the highest rate of any group in the country as of November 8\, 2022. \n\n\n\nThis race benefits the Knox County Suicide Prevention Coalition\, a non-profit\, charitable organization that is dedicated to the reducing the rate of suicide in Knox County and connecting those at risk with resources and support. The volunteer-based organization offers grief support\, information on available resources and referral to community services. Knox Couty Suicide Coalition is holding its 15th annual 5k/10k walk/run on September 20th at Ariel Foundation Park\, starting at 5:00 P.M. \n\n\n\nWe will also be lighting the tower and bridge as a memorial to those we’ve lost at approximately 7:15 P.M. Families and friends are encouraged to bring a picture of their loved one to share. \n\n\n\nThe walk & run is for suicide awareness\, for those who have lost a loved one\, for those who are suffering\, and for those who want to remember. We are asking you to join us in making a difference in our community. We want to start the conversation about suicide. We strive to make this difficult topic into a common conversation subject and destigmatize the shame and guilt associated with suicide and mental health. We invite walkers\, runners\, joggers\, dogs\, and strollers of all ages to come out and participate. Even if you can’t join in the race\, come support a great cause and start the conversation. Funds raised from this event will provide the education needed to identify the common causes of suicidal behavior\, the warning signs\, and how to help someone in crisis. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrice Schedule5K10KThrough September 20th$35$35\n\n\n\n\n\nSchedule of Events3:30pm: Race Day Registration & Packet Pick-Up begins at the Kiwanis Pavilion5:00pm: 5k/10k Races begin7:15pm: Remembrance Memorial (starts at the tower)\n\n\n\n\n\nSWAG \n\n\n\n 2025 Participant Medal \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Map \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAwards \n\n\n\nAwards for top 3 overall in the 5k and 10k \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n – Register\n\n\n\n – Donate\n\n\n\n – Results\n\n\n\n – Facebook\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRace registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.

SUMMARY:OWBC Redbud Trail Challenge
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n\nAre You Ready for the 2018 Redbud Trail Challenge?\nJoin us for what we think is the “Most Rugged and Beautiful Trail Race in Ohio”. The Redbud Trail Challenge is a grueling Trail Hike/Run to benefit Ohio Wilderness Boys Camp (OWBC). Bring the whole family to participate and choose between a 5K\, 10K\, or 20K trail course. It will be run on OWBC’s rugged 600 acre forested property located in the hills of Southeast Ohio. \nThe OWBC RedBud Trail Challenge. . .\nThe Redbud Trail Challenge will do just that: Challenge your will\, mind\, and body just to finish this course. But it will be worth every bit of energy and will-power you spend. The trail will go through 2 primitive campsites (the 5K will go through 1 campsite) which the boys built and where they reside. A few more unique features are crossing the 68′ span “Nehemiah” suspension bridge (which the boys built)\, the beautiful springtime forest lush with Redbud and Dogwood blossoms\, and huge boulders along the trail. \nThere will be 3 refreshment/first aid stations (2 on the 5K course) spread out over the course of the trail. The 10K trail is strenuous and has over 1\,700′ of elevation gain and is approximately 40% technical single track and 60% old logging trails. The 20K trail will be twice around the 10K course and is not for the faint of heart. The 5K is perfect for the whole family because it is less rugged for those who want the fun of hiking in the woods\, but not the difficulty and length of the 10K or 20K. All participants who register on or before April 26\, 2018 will receive a race t-shirt and a gift from OWBC. You also can wait to register until Race Day from 7:15 – 8:30 am (Race Day registration costs $5 more). After the event\, get refreshed and fellowship with your friends while enjoying a scrumptious meal for the whole family. All proceeds from the race will support the mission of Ohio Wilderness Boys Camp\, a nonprofit organization helping troubled boys and their families find new hope. Register today and help us help boys. See you on the trail. \nDetailed Course Descriptions\n5K Detailed Trail Description | 10K Detailed Trail Description \nHow Your Support Helps Troubled Boys…\nOhio Wilderness Boys Camp is a nonprofit organization operated from a Christian ethos and value system and exists to help bring healing to troubled boys and their families.
