SUMMARY:The Hoot Half Marathon & 10k Trail Race
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Hoot!\n\n\n\nIn the early morning hours the elusive and fiercely predatory population of owls have haunted Rocks and Roots trail runners since time began.​Given their mysterious nocturnal habitats and often eerie vocalizations\, owls are ripe fodder for superstitions. Owls have been considered omens of good luck\, bad fortune\, impendingdoom\, wisdom\, foolishness\, evil and witchcraft\, and even predictors of weather. Bizarre examples of owl mythology abound around the globe.  \n\n\n\nBehold the HOOT! While summer on the trails offers some of the best trail conditions\, there is no shortage of challenge to be had! The rocks\, the roots\, and the heat of summer bring you our shortest distances\, and the only half marathon we host on the trail.  \n\n\n\nVolunteer! \n\n\n\nMore Details\n\n\n\nWhen – Sunday\, September 6th. All races start at 8am.  \n\n\n\nWhat –  10K\, and Half Marathon Trail Race \n\n\n\nWhere – The Rocks and Roots Trail at Alum Creek State Park. The start of the race is located just off of Hollenback Rd and just south of the dog park(3993 Hollenback Rd Lewis Center\, OH 43035).​ \n\n\n\nCost – Our races typically sell out 2-6 weeks prior to race day. Please note: The Hoot has a NO REFUND and NO BIB TRANSFER policy for all events. \n\n\n\n\nThrough May 31st – $45\n\n\n\nJune 1st – June 30th – $50\n\n\n\nJuly 1st – July 31st – $55\n\n\n\nAugust 1st – August 31st – $60\n\n\n\nSeptember 1st – Race Day – $70\n\n\n\n\nWhat do you get?  \n\n\n\n\nEpic trail race experience!\n\n\n\nEvent Shirt\n\n\n\nEvent Medal\n\n\n\n\nPacket Pick Up  \n\n\n\n\nPacket pickup will be held at Fleet Feet Sports in Lewis Center before the event on Friday and Saturday of race week during normal business hours.\n\n\n\nRace day packet pickup will beginning at 7am at the race site at Alum Creek State Park.\n\n\n\n\n​ \n\n\n\nThe Course\n\n\n\nCourse layout is subject to change. Click here to view the Rocks And Roots Trail Map! \n\n\n\n\nThe start of the race is located just off of Hollenback Rd and just south of the dog park (3993 Hollenback Rd Lewis Center\, OH 43035). DESCRIPTION:– Register\n\n\n\n – Donate\n\n\n\n – Results\n\n\n\n – Facebook\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSeptember 11-19\, 2026\, is National Suicide Prevention Week\, which is an opportunity to bring prevention and awareness to our community. This is Knox County Suicide Coalition is holding its sixteenth annual 5k/10k walk and run on September 12th at Ariel Foundation Park\, starting at 5:00 P.M. Suicide affects all walks of life\, we want to send out a clear message that there is hope and support available. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe race benefits the Knox County Suicide Prevention Coalition\, a non-profit\, charitable organization that is dedicated to reducing the rate of suicide in Knox County and connecting those at risk with resources and support. The volunteer-based organization offers grief support\, information on available resources\, and referrals to community services. We will also be lighting the tower and bridge at approximately 7:15 P.M. Families and friends are encouraged to bring a picture of their loved one to share.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe walk and run is to bring attention to awareness and prevention of suicide. We are asking you to join us in making a difference in our community. We invite walkers\, runners\, joggers\, dogs\, children’s activities\, and strollers of all ages to come out and participate. Even if you can’t join in the race\, come support a great cause and start the conversation. At Grace Centers of Hope\, we tackle the root cause of all these issues to help men\, women and children become productive members of society through our 1-year life skills program.
