DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the 8th Annual Olentangy Liberty Baseball 5K!\n\nThe 8th Annual Olentangy Liberty Baseball 5K Run/1M Walk will be held on Saturday\, November 10\, 2018. This event benefits the Division 1 State Champion Olentangy Liberty Baseball Patriots who have proudly partnered with Honor Flight Columbus in support of our nation’s veterans. The 1M Walk will begin at 8:30am with the 5K Run to follow at 9am. The 5K Run starts and finishes at the Olentangy Liberty High School Stadium. The 1M Walk route proceeds around the grounds of Olentangy Liberty High School. In addition to a fantastic event\, the Patriots for Freedom event will once again be holding a generous raffle with many donations from local businesses. Each event participant will receive one free raffle ticket with the opportunity to purchase additional tickets.\n \nHonor Flight recognizes our military veterans by funding trips to Washington D.C. to visit the war memorials. Each flight transports 82-87 veterans and costs a total of $62\,000 which is approximately $750 per veteran. Honor Flight has flown over 5\,000 veterans from Central Ohio since its inception in 2010. Currently\, there are over 1\,000 veterans waiting to make this trip with Honor Flight. Our mission is to provide emotional and financial support to Law Enforcement and their families throughout the State of Ohio. Police Wives of Ohio has sent out hundreds of cards and many care packages to injured Law Enforcement Officers. Our team has raised more than $6\,000 for the families of injured and families of fallen officers. For Police week PWOO members provided over 5\,000 officers with goody bags\, food\, and more to show them that we care and are proud of the hard work they put in every day with little to no thanks. While our past work has consistently been raised through donations\, with the growing need for support\, our budget must now be supplemented with fundraising. We aim to bring a wellness initiative to the community while raising funds to create a spirit of philanthropy for the students at John R. Buchtel High School. To date\, our collaboration has been able to donate $23\,000 to the Buchtel Stadium fund. With support and sponsorship from our race committee\, the City of Akron\, The Gus Johnson Community Foundation and the United Women of Wholeness\, we are looking forward to working diligently to continue to raise funds for the Buchtel Cluster of schools. \n \nBuchtel High School opened in 1931 and is named after Akron industrialist and philanthropist John R. Buchtel. Mr. Buchtel helped to organize and finance a number of early Akron firms\, including the Goodrich Corporation. Buchtel High School has been and continues to be a recognized leader in multiple sports categories. Pets Without Parents is an all-breed\, no-kill\, non-profit shelter for dogs and cats located in the Clintonville area of Columbus\, Ohio. Adoptions fees only cover ~31% of the total cost of care for our pets. We rely on fundraisers like these to make our rescue efforts possible! \nCome and see what everyone has been barking about!
