SUMMARY:FLOW Stormwater Runoff 5K
DESCRIPTION:Explore. Discover. Understand. Act. Join Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed (FLOW) at our inaugural Stormwater Runoff 5K. The course will take runners and walkers through Liberty Park where they’ll see and learn about different stormwater management practices to reduce flooding and erosion\, and allow stormwater to soak into the ground or get diverted safely into our watershed’s streams and creeks that feed the Olentangy River. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n – Register\n\n\n\n – Donate\n\n\n\n – Results\n\n\n\n – Facebook\n\n\n\n – Instagram\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStormwater Awareness Week \n\n\n\nOctober 1-7 is Stormwater Awareness Week in Ohio\, an effort to educate the public on howstormwater pollution affects our land\, water\, and farms\, and what steps we can take to prevent it.Clean stormwater helps protect our streams\, drinking water\, and the health of Ohio’s naturalresources. \n\n\n\nFriends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed (FLOW) \n\n\n\nAll proceeds from this event will benefit Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed (FLOW)\, a501(c)(3) volunteer-based nonprofit established in 1997 with a mission to keep the OlentangyRiver and its tributaries clean and safe for all to enjoy\, through public education\, volunteeractivities\, and coordination with local decision-makers. \n\n\n\nYour participation (and donation) helps us continue our conservation work in the lowerOlentangy watershed\, a roughly 150 square mile area which includes a 32 mile stretch of theriver\, plus nearly 400 miles of tributaries (stream\, creeks\, runs\, etc.) Our efforts include: \n\n\n\n\nTree plantings\n\n\n\nInvasive species removal (honeysuckle\, callery pear\, etc.)\n\n\n\nStream water quality monitoring by citizen scientists\n\n\n\nPollinator garden planting/maintenance\n\n\n\nLitter cleanus (481 tires collected for recycling\, plus over 6\,000 lbs. of trash removedfrom the watershed in 2025 alone!)\n\n\n\n3 volunteer-run tree nurseries where we grow over 2\,500 native trees and bushes whichwe use in our restoration efforts\, and also make available for free to residents of thewatershed in our fall tree giveaway.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSwag for registered runners/walkers: \n\n\n\n\nRace t-shirt\n\n\n\nSwag bag with goodies from our sponsors + native seed packet from FLOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrice Schedule5K1 MileThrough August 31st$30$15Through October 4th$35$20\n\n\n\n\n\nSchedule of Events8:00am: Race Day Registration and Packet Pickup Begins8:45am: Opening Ceremony and Race Announcements9:00am: 5k Run/Walk Begins9:05am: 1.5 Mile Fun Run/Walk Start9:45am: Awards Ceremony\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSWAG \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Map \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPre-Race Packet Pickup \n\n\n\nOctober 1st: 9:00am – 4:00pm @ FLOW office\, 1404 Goodale Blvd\, Suite 100\, Columbus\, OH 43212\n\n\n\nOctober 2nd: 9:00am – 4:00pm @ FLOW office\, 1404 Goodale Blvd\, Suite 100\, Columbus\, OH 43212\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAwards \n\n\n\nTop 3 Men\, Top 3 Women \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n – Register\n\n\n\n – Donate\n\n\n\n – Results\n\n\n\n – Facebook\n\n\n\n – Instagram\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRace registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
